Set separation, approximating multicones, and the Lipschitz maximum principle

We present a general necessary condition for separation of the reachable set of a Lipschitz control system from another given set of states, expressed in terms of an “approximating multicone” to the set in a sense that contains as special cases the Clarke and Mordukhovich cones. We then show how this separation result implies a strengthened form of the usual sufficient condition for local contr...

Lipschitz Continuity of Optimal Controls for State Constrained Problems

This paper provides new conditions under which optimal controls are Lipschitz continuous for dynamic optimization problems with functional inequality constraints, a control constraint expressed in terms of a general closed convex set and a coercive cost function. It is shown that the linear independence condition on active state constraints, present in the earlier literature, can be replaced by...

Linear operators of Banach spaces with range in Lipschitz algebras

In this paper, a complete description concerning linear operators of Banach spaces with range in Lipschitz algebras $lip_al(X)$ is provided. Necessary and sufficient conditions are established to ensure boundedness and (weak) compactness of these operators. Finally, a lower bound for the essential norm of such operators is obtained.

Bsdes with Stochastic Lipschitz Condition

We prove an existence and uniqueness theorem for backward stochastic di erential equations driven by a Brownian motion, where the uniform Lipschitz continuity is replaced by a stochastic one.

Embedding with a Lipschitz function

We investigate a new notion of embedding of subsets of {−1, 1}n in a given normed space, in a way which preserves the structure of the given set as a class of functions on {1, ..., n}. This notion is an extension of the margin parameter often used in Nonparametric Statistics. Our main result is that even when considering “small” subsets of {−1, 1}n, the vast majority of such sets do not embed i...
